i can’t believe i’m missing the oscars

after a decade of watching it live, i’m missing the 2011 one. i used to pull a no-show at work for this, but after my extended leave, perhaps another rest day was too much to ask.

the worst part of this is the primetime telecast here in fiji is way past my bedtime. yep, i’m like a grade school kid who needs to be in bed at a certain hour. it’s called discipline, bitches. a.k.a. best skincare routine.

why i’d hate missing this year’s oscars: if trent reznor wins best original score for his work in the social network, i would miss seeing him accept an oscar. who would want to miss that??

the social network, that major film about facebook. who would have thought?

and i just wrote about andrew garfield in the previous entry. one of the most anticipated movies of the year involves 1) our future spider-man, 2) the golden standard of male pop artists and 3) the guy who gained our affections fighting zombies.

the social network, based on ben mezrich’s book the accidental billionaires: the founding of facebook, a tale of sex, money, genius and betrayal, premiers october 1 this year. that’s right, facebook. your favorite cyber hangout has a founding story rich enough for a red carpet premier in tinseltown. a history from six long(?) years ago.
