there might be some long sleeve nazis out there who scoff at this dress deeming it inappropriate for a wedding, but this to me is the best dress during an event deluded with overcoats and pompous hats. i believe also the best maternity look i’ve seen on any red carpet: the sleek ponytail, the minimal jewelry, david beckham….. it’s all so polished. and the superhuman powers required to walk in eight-inch heels with a bun in the oven. it’s incredible!

one of the most attractive royals alive, princess letizia is a frequent name on best dressed lists, this last royal wedding included.

marie-chantal claire, the crown princess of greece, is no stranger to fashion, designing her own range of luxury children’s clothing and accessories. i wonder if she will move on to design for women in the future?

zara phillips

zara phillips, the groom’s cousin and princess anne’s daughter, came with her rugby star fiance, mike tindall. not too many people appreciated her choice of overcoat that day, but i loved it. the pewter sheen and severity of the cut at front leads to a little surprise bow at the back. and she is wearing one of the two pairs of shoes that day that i could kill for. hers was the pointed-toe mary janes with skinny heels.

the hon. frances osborne

frances osborne, author and wife of the chancellor of the exchequer (whatever that means), wore a sheer gray dress with rough hem. i find this a classy kind of low-maintenance, a perfectly beautiful kind of simplicity even the opulent hat. and she is wearing the other pair of shoes that i could kill for. modified d’orsay pumps that i’d love to just own right now.

joss stone

the cutest sight in the entire event is not the little bridesmaids in their puffy dresses nor the page boys in their miniaturized military uniforms. it is joss stone in this bright colored dress and cropped jacket, a big happy hat covering half her face while she chats away on her cell phone and struts merrily with an enormous smile. the cutest, i tell you.

sophie winkleman

wife of lord frederick windsor (son of prince michael of kent), actress sophie winkleman wore i believe one of the best overcoats of the day.

princess beatrice

alright, fine. haters and wise-asses the world over are having a ball ridiculing the hats of princess eugenie and princess beatrice. but the overcoat of princess beatrice? and that trace of electric pleats beneath it? i can’t hate on this. i just can’t.

charlene wittstock

the next anticipated royal wedding is prince albert of monaco’s to south african olympic swimmer charlene wittstock. charlene wore an overcoat in a color that somehow ages her, but the cut and the hat, both simple for the standards of that momentous event, were perfect as understatements of elegance.

lady kitty spencer, eliza and amelia spencer

actually, i wasn’t really impressed with their outfits, i just can’t help including them in the list. princess diana’s nieces, kitty and the twins eliza and amelia spencer were so great to look at. imagine off their hats and you could swear you were watching an episode of the hills or something.
