wide-leg jeans and the label i can't pronounce
April 2nd, 2009 by shallow

everyone who knows me knows i don’t and wouldn’t wear slim pants. nor would i get caught in tapered pants. so shopping for denim jeans is greatly characterized by an ardent hunt for the right cut. i have nothing against skinny jeans on people who can pull them off, and am even slightly jealous for that, but this close-to-the-flesh furor will have to blow over first before i can call shopping leisure again.

since last year, wide-leg jeans have been showing up on magazine adverts and some store racks, and i knew i had to nab the opportunity before it goes away for another cycle of seasons. and by the looks of it, wide-leg jeans will have but a brief stint in the local street setting.

not all wide-leg jeans are created equal. it may seem as if it’s a simple cut to master, but it also takes some streamlining to make the end result look flattering. many fashion buyers probably just snap up the next roomy pair of pants to add some variety to the usual reedy pieces they already have. so despite the presence of less constricting pants in the market, jeans shopping is still a mission for me.

fortunately, i have found two brands that have never let me down. one of them is beyouk.

beyouk (bee-yoo-kay) is a french brand of attitude-wear inspired by london lifestyle. and very likely, vinyl records and cover art. if you wear the brand from head to foot, you don it against a background of house music and technicolor lines. they are street savvy, aloof and quite at ease with their non-conformity.

this style is cut low, but not butt-crack low. it has a wide waistband, making it flattering for ladies trying to hide the proof of french fries. come to think of it, all its details are wide: the waistband, the depth and stitching of the front pockets, the pocket flaps at the back, the hem fold. all around, a very well-thought-of pair of jeans.

available in adora, greenbelt 5.

p.s., if you know other brands that carry similar cuts, please tell me immediately.

nice jeans. i too won’t be caught dead wearing skinny jeans.

thanks for the visit. yep, it’s too hot here in manila. i think we average 31 – 33 degrees celsius. but baguio’s too crowded already. tagaytay will do, i think. am planning of going there maybe at the end of the month.

Hmm.. I think this only works for tall gurls.. ;p but they’re cool as long as the wearer carries them well..

Btw, reply posted on http://fashion-flick.blogspot.com/2009/04/bioessence-diamond-peel-experience.html about facials.. :)

    TC sis!

hi milai! we might visit tagaytay soon too. sonya’s garden in particular.

hi fashion flick! that’s a good point.. i am on the shorter side too, that’s why i wear them with heels, wedges, platforms or, on casual days, elevated flip-flops/sandals (as shown in picture). the effect is slimming and lengthens the legs since the shoes are conveniently hidden. sssshhh….
